Robert E. “Bob” Woitzel, 90 of Greenwood, NE was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  He went home to be with the Lord, his Savior on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Oxbow Living Center in Ashland, NE.  He was born March 19, 1927 in Greenwood, NE to Gustav and Selma (Luehr) Woitzel. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1945.  Bob served in the Army Air Force during WWII from May 1945 to January 1949.

In December of 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Mary E. “Betty” Granger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Murdock, NE.  Bob was a life-long farmer in the Greenwood area.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #129 and V.F.W. Post #9776 in Ashland and a Lutheran Church member.  He enjoyed tending to his garden, fishing, hunting and loved being in nature and watching wildlife.

Bob is survived by his children, Joseph Woitzel of Greenwood, James (Beverly) Woitzel of Greenwood, Linda (Melvin) Tucker of Lincoln, Lori (Randy) Allington of Marion, IA; grandchildren, Allison (Greg) Acero, Daniel (Ashlea) Woitzel, Bradley (Khalisha) Tucker, Travis Tucker, Alex, Ben, and Blake Allington; great-grandchildren, Barrett and Beau Acero, Lauren Woitzel; many nieces & nephews, and his canine companion, Logan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Woitzel; parents; sisters, Greta Schuelke, Helen Olesen, Mary Ellen Bachman; brothers, Verner Rau, Herman Rau, Willard Woitzel

    So sorry to hear about Bob. I served him coffee and breakfast for over 15 years. He was always so nice. I’ll miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends
