Ronald A. Read Sr., 81 of Ashland, NE passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Arbor Care Center in Valley, NE.  He was born August 15, 1942 in Plattsmouth, NE to Ralph and Irene (Plymale) Reed.  He was a graduate of Ashland High School.  Ron was a truck driver and a floor mechanic for many years.   He was a member of the NRA and American Legion Post #129.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.   He was also an avid Husker football fan.

He is survived by his sons, Jay Read of Blair, NE & Ronnie Read Jr. of Ft. Calhoun, NE; grandchildren, Courtney, Hunter, Dalton, Deziree, Baydon & Brianna; great-grandchildren, Colby & Camdyn; sister, Jackie Whitehead; nephews, Brian & Doug Whitehead; significant other, Nancy Misek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Irene Reed
