Ronald Lee Tvrdy, 83, of Ceresco, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE. He was born May 17, 1934 in Ceresco, NE to Henry John and Helen Henrietta (Hruza) Tvrdy. Ron graduated from Ceresco High School in 1951. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged on March 17, 1955. On December 27, 1958, Ron was married to Marguerite Mary Beiermann at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, NE.
Ron was a lifelong farmer and he worked for the City of Lincoln with the surveyors. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Davey, NE, Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s & St. Patrick’s Cemetery Board, Ceresco American Legion Post #244, Saunders County Zoning Board, Saunders County Livestock Association and a past board member of the Ceresco Coop.
Ron lived to farm and was a good steward of the land; some of which his great grandfather Tvrdy purchased in 1876. Ron loved our Lord Jesus above all else. He attended daily Mass for many years at St. Mary’s Church in Davey. At home, he enjoyed playing cards, reading, watching Husker football, watching sports and spending time with his family and friends. He loved history especially WWII and the Korean War. Ron also enjoyed taking his daily country crop tours and shredding all summer.
He is survived by children, Ann E. Tvrdy of Grand Island, NE, John F. (Jean) Tvrdy of Wahoo, NE, Nancy M. (Marlan) Gathje of Central City, NE, Peggy M. Tvrdy of Lincoln, NE and Mark C. (Wendy) Tvrdy of Ceresco, NE; grandchildren, Rachel L. Tvrdy, Jill, Katy and Amy Gathje, Scott, Rosalie, Julianne, Allyson and Brett Tvrdy; step-grandchildren, Monica and Emily Hass; sister, Rose Ann Spence; sister-in-law, Patricia Tvrdy.
He was preceded in death by wife, Marguerite “Marge” Tvrdy; parents, Henry and Helen Tvrdy; brother, Henry Tvrdy, Jr.; brother-in-law, Lyle Spence; infant son, infant daughter and infant brother.
We’re sorry to hear about Ron. He was a good man. Your in our thought and prayers.
We were honored to take Mr. Tvrdy on the Korean Honor Flight.
Evonne and I are very sorry for your loss.
Ron was a fine man, a great neighbor, and a builder that left our community better because of him. We’ll miss him.
Ron and all the Tvrdy family are in our thoughts and prayers, Nancy and Inare saddened by Your loss.
Now Ron and Marge can continue their game of “Nickel” in heaven. They were good people.
