Ruby I. Strode, 99 of Ashland, NE passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Ashland Care Center in Ashland. She was born January 6, 1919 in Ashland, NE to Elmer and Beulah (Johnson) Hall. She attended District 5 grade school, Ashland High School and Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Harold G. Strode on May 4th 1935 in Wahoo, NE. Five children were born from this union, Harold, Robert, Ronald, Donald and Carolyn.
Ruby and her husband both owned and trained racehorses and traveled excessively around the country racing them. They also operated various businesses in Ashland, including Car Dealerships, Gas Stations/Car Repair Shops, Commercial Trucking Companies, and a Mobile Home Park.
Ruby was an independent, honest and hard worker. She was lifelong member of First Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt.
Ruby is survived by her children, Harold J. Strode, Ronald E. (Joyce) Strode, Donald D. (Lucille) Strode, and Carolyn M. (Donald) Pretzer; daughter-in-law, Mary Strode; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold G. Strode; son, Robert A. Strode; daughter-in-law, Verna Mae Dean Strode; grandsons, Douglas Strode, Kent Strode, Randy Strode; brothers, Ben and Richard Hall; sisters, Colleen and Eunice Hall; special friends, Delbert Lacy and Delmar Kolb.

Sorry to learn of Ruby’s passing. It is difficult to say good-by, but I believe it could be said that her life was a life well lived. Our condolences to all of you.
My heartfelt condolences to the entire Strode family. Ruby was well loved and respected. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
