Ruth A. Kuncl of Prague, NE passed away late evening on December 29, 2022 at Saunders County Medical Center in Wahoo, NE. Ruth was born on December 15, 1945 in Prague to Victor and Helen (Klein) Kuncl. She was a lifelong resident of Prague where she attended school at Prague Public High School. While in school, she was a four-year starter in volleyball and loved literature. After high school, Ruth traveled the states with her most talked about trips to Norman, Ok and Acapulco. In 1977, she gave birth to her only child, her son, Chris.
Ruth worked a variety of jobs before making a career as a grain elevator manager and grain merchandiser working for Scouler in Malmo and Weston. After Scouler sold, she began as the grain elevator manager at Bruno Cooperative in Bruno, NE retiring in 2014.
Not only was Ruth a dedicated worker, she valued her faith and family over everything. She was a longtime member of St John the Baptist Church in Prague. She was a loving daughter, sister and mother but most of all she loved being a grandmother to her 4 grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jacquelyn, Trevor and Braylon. She loved to spoil them and support them. In 2021, she was given the title of great grandmother when her first great grandchild, Kynlee, was born.
Ruth loved her family, and she loved following sports. She was dedicated to following Chris through high school in basketball and football and that continued through college when Chris played at Dana College. It didn’t stop there as she didn’t miss a game of Trevor’s that was streamed. She was so proud. Not only did she follow those sports, but she was an avid fan of Husker volleyball and Atlanta Braves baseball. She had a great love of reading, loved to bake for her family and prided herself on being an independent woman.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Helen (Klein) Kuncl; sister Joan Furasek; brothers, Steve Kuncl, and Bill Kuncl.
Ruth leaves behind her son, Chris and daughter-in-law, Janie Kuncl; grandchildren, Jocelyn(Kyle) Bloom, Jacquelyn (Mike) Kuncl-Murcek, Trevor Kuncl, Braylon; great granddaughter, Kynlee Bloom; brother, Tom (Valerie) Kuncl; brother-in-law, Ray Furasek, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews. And many friends and those who considered her a second mom.
Deepest sympathy for your loss. May memories of Ruth and the love of family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.

To the family,,,, Very sorry for your loss. We will miss you as you were always a direct honest person. You let us know how things really were. You didn’t beat around the bush. We enjoyed having you as the manager of the Bruno co-op. I will never forget how you told a bunch of guys sitting around drinking coffee. “You guys are worse than a bunch of women” no one disagreed. We miss you and love is being sent to your family.
