Steven Novotny, Jr., 86 of Ashland, NE, entered into rest on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna, NE. He was born November 8, 1927 in Dalton, NE to Steven Sr. and Mildred (Bordner) Novotny. Steven graduated from Omaha Tech High School in Omaha, NE. He served his country in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in 1948. On September 13, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Crosby at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Omaha, NE.
Steven was a lifelong farmer and cattle feeder who loved spending time with his family. He loved hunting, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a past board member of FmHA, treasurer of the Ashland Township, a coach on his children’s sports teams, and a Cub Scout leader.
He is survived by wife of 61 years, Betty Novotny; children, Susan (Dennis) Thomas of Ashland, Steven (Barbara) Novotny III of Ashland, Jim Novotny of Ashland, John (Teresa) Novotny of Eden Prairie, MN, Tom (Marlene) Novotny of Carson, IA; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Steven Sr. and Mildred Novotny.
