Todd A. Bowman, 51, of Elkhorn, NE, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.
On December 23, 1965, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, Todd was born to Harold and Kathy Bowman. He grew up with his sister, Tychia, and sang throughout high school to graduate from Ashland-Greenwood. He went onto college at the University of Nebraska at Omaha to be involved in his fraternity and be crowned Homecoming Prince in 1988 (as if he needed a crown to know he was a stud). Ten years later on December 1, 1998, came the birth of his son, Trevor: the center of his universe. Throughout his life, Todd worked for the sake of people. Most recently, he enjoyed employment at Wal-Mart and Hayneedle in Omaha, Nebraska.
Todd spent his 51 years with sports as a constant source of happiness. Whether it was playing, coaching his son, watching (and yelling at) the Huskers, or attending games of nieces and nephews, sports was his zone of comfort. In his later years, his passion for Husker baseball and UNK Loper Volleyball was evident. Todd and Trevor held true to be the statistical, father-son, dynamic-sports-watching duo.
While spending years with the love of his life, Berta, and trying to teach her all things Husker, Todd also had another love: fashion. So much so, that he wore khakis, sunglasses, ball caps, and Husker shirts daily. And, if you had asked him opinions on comic books, Star Wars, or Star Trek, he was on board.
In his last moments, Todd winked, performed eyebrow tricks, and blew kisses to bring his family and friends comfort in a time of trial. His next plans include reconnecting with his dad and grandparents while cheering on the Huskers and Lopers from Heaven.
He is survived by significant other, Berta Ackerson of Elkhorn; son, Trevor Bowman of Elkhorn; step-daughter, Taylor Bowman of Texas; mother, Kathy Bowman of Ashland; sister, Tychia (Michael) Thomas of Yutan; nieces and nephews: Brauk, Anna, Kaitlynn, Claire and Logan Thomas; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by father, Harold Bowman.
I did not know him , but know some of the family. From what I read he was A super person. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
