Venis A. Reitmajer, 83 of Wahoo, NE, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. She was born May 9, 1932 in Weston, NE to Louis and Helen (Kliment) Placek. She was raised on the family farm and spent many hours helping with chores. Venis graduated from Weston High School in 1950. On November 24, 1962, she was married to Daryl D. Reitmajer at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Venis worked for Western Electric in Millard and Lincoln, Runza for 10 years, and she helped Lindley Clothing and many people in the community as a seamstress.
Venis was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she was an extremely organized person. She enjoyed sewing, making potato dumplings, dancing, road trips, and playing cards with her card club. She always made people feel welcome in her home and had plenty of food.
She is survived by son Daniel D. (Donna) Reitmajer of Makinen, MN; daughter Dawn D. (Jay Pabian) Reitmajer of Omaha; grandchildren: Ginny, Daniel E., Deanna, and Donovan; great-grandchildren: Malachite, Poppy, Wren, and Miles; sister Norma (Warren) Barry of Malmo; many nieces and nephews; special nieces and nephew: Kimberly Ried Reitmajer and Russell and Carolyn Barry.
She was preceded in death by husband Daryl D. Reitmajer; parents Louis and Helen Placek; and nephew Johnnie Ried.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at South Haven, especially the nurses in the Lakemont Wing.
I remember Venis even though years have passed. Spent many great times with her Mom, Dad & Norma at their house. I’m sure she will be missed. Floyd & Betty Hutzenbiler
So sorry to see the news about Ven. May all of her family remember the good, dedication and love she shared with everyone.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. I remember the wonderful stories my Mom and Dad (Bob & Carol Nau) would share of the fun time with Ven and Daryl! The wonderful card parties and get togethers were such fond memories. She will be remembered fondly and with happy memories! Shalisa Nau Anderson
