Wayne A. Williams, 88 of Ashland, NE passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Medical Century in Lincoln, NE. He was born May 1, 1935 in Ashland, NE to Richard and Marjorie (Moline) Williams.
In his early years he farmed around Memphis and Ashland, NE. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Lorine Renter on September 26, 1955 in Wahoo, NE. To this union a daughter, Cindy Kay and a son Michael Allen were born.
Wayne worked at Allied Chemical Plant in Plattsmouth, NE for many years while they made their home in Union, NE. Later the family moved to Webster City, IA where he was employed as a foreman at the Fort Dodge chemical plant for four years. He wanted to be self-employed and fulfilled that dream when they purchased the Dairy Sweet in Mead, NE. Later they purchased Mayfield Brothers plumbing and heating in Ashland, NE, changing the name to Todd Valley Plumbing and Heating. They retired from the business in 1999 selling it to Bud Bogatz.
Wayne loved history and would often take his family to museums on the weekends. He spent a lot of time trapshooting in his youth and won a meet on the day of the moon landing which he had engraved on the trophy. He helped his daughter in her genealogy pursuit and even traveled back to Vermont and New York to meet his long-lost relatives. He was a wonderful husband, father, and human being.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorine Williams, children, Cindy (Richard) Karre and Michael (Kathy) Williams; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Keith Jurgensen; sister-in-law, Audrey Williams; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marjorie Williams, sisters, Rita Williams and Bonnie Jurgensen; brother, Rodney Williams.
Sorry for your lost . I hope Loraine is taking it okay . She use to call me every once in awhile to ask how my mom was doing.
Sending thoughts and sympathy to you. So sorry to hear about Wayne.

I am so sorry to hear about Wayne. He and Bonnie were dear friends to Jerry and I and I grew up with them in the Memphis area. He will be missed.
