Clara E. Vavak, 93 of Wahoo, NE, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo. She was born August 1, 1921 in Weston, NE to Vaclav James and Mary (Pallas) Ruzicka. She attended District 68 country school and graduated from Malmo High School. Clara was a farm wife and through the years she worked at Kennedy College and the Saunders County Hospital. Clara outlived three husbands, William T. Vavak, Frank Veskrana, and Emil Havelka, who was the father of her four children.

Clara greatly enjoyed being involved in the community. Some of her hobbies were baking, sewing, gardening, and caring for her flowers.

She is survived by children, Pauline A. (William) Deakins of Louisville, KY, Daniel L. (Roberta) Havelka of Mead, and Adrian A. Havelka of Wahoo; grandchildren, Paula (Ken) Collins of Phoenix, AZ, Lynn (Ritchie) Booth of Louisville, KY, Dale Havelka of Wisner, Shannon (Dwyne) Novotny of Dwight, Shawn (Penny) Havelka of Mead, Lyle (Keisha) Havelka of Mead, Bill (Charity) Flagle of Fremont, and Allen Flagle of Mead; many great-grandchildren, step-children, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William T. Vavak, Frank Veskrana, and Emil Havelka; son, Lyle Dale Havelka; parents, Vaclav James and Mary Ruzicka; brothers, Ernest Jerry Ruzicka and Gustav Ruzicka; sisters, Alice (Thomas) Vrana and Marie (Ernest) Christenson.

    She was such a dear friend. We’ll always remember her sauerkraut and dumplings from the Primtimers club in Mead. A beautiful soul gone to Glory…..

    Clara was so incredibly special to me! I am honored to have known her and truly enjoyed my time with her. She had such a positive impact and taught me much. My only regret is that I didn’t know her sooner! Love you so much Clara! Your Monie Monie! I’ll carry you in my heart until we meet again! Thanks for sharing her love with all of us at the care center!
