Norman Lee Stoakes, 73 of Omaha, NE, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in Omaha. He was born on May 27, 1941 in Albion, NE to Roger and Maybelle (Cook) Stoakes. Norman graduated from Mead High School in 1959 and he attended Midland Lutheran College. On September 23, 1961, he was married to Sharon Osterloh in Omaha. Their first home together was in Wahoo above the Wigwam. Norman was the founder of Superior Metal Products in Omaha and Prairie Golf in Omaha.
In addition to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Norman mentored many people through the years and he was an exceptional leader. He aided in many philanthropic projects and he was always available to help his community. He also had a passion for the sport of golf.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Stoakes; children, Julianne Kay Stoakes and Eric Stoakes; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Chizek and Nicole Maxine Chizek; brother, Earl (Sally) Stoakes; sisters, Karol Osterloh, Geraldine Sheets, and Mickey Vrba; sister-in-law, Verla Stoakes; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Maybelle Stoakes; brothers, Roger, Gordon, Lester, Mason, Donald, and Jack Stoakes; sisters, Mina McPeck and Alyce Andersen.
Pastor Andrew Dietzel will be officiating the service.
