Arnold E. Tvrdy, 81 of Ceresco, NE, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. He was born on February 2, 1935 on the family farm near Ceresco, NE to James F. and Albina (Benes) Tvrdy and Arnold spent most of his life on this farm. Arnold attended District 118 and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1952. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged. On September 12, 1959, Arnold was united in marriage to Betty Ann Osmera at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy, NE.
Arnold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church where he served as an acolyte. He was a member of American Legion #371, National Farmers Organization, Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association, and the Knights of Columbus #8625.
He is survived by wife of 56 years Betty Ann Tvrdy; children: Larry Tvrdy of Ceresco and Charlie (Ann) Tvrdy of Ceresco; grandchildren: Hannah (Floyd) Crouse, Dylan (Abby) Tvrdy, Colton Tvrdy, Bailey Tvrdy, and Christopher Abbott; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Kaedence, and Isaiah Crouse and Gabriel Abbott; sister Teresa (Les) Policky of Acworth, GA; brother Jim (Tammy) Tvrdy of Valparaiso; sister-in-law Monica Tvrdy of Valparaiso; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marie (Eugene) Maly of Weston, Anthony (Mary Ann) Osmera of Weston, Ernie (Joan) Osmera of Weston, Harriet (Rudy) Jakub of David City, Elizabeth Osmera of Scottsdale, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents James and Albina Tvrdy; daughter Lori Tvrdy; brother Edwin Tvrdy; sister Rose (Richard) Hottovy; brother-in-law Richard Osmera.
Aunt Betty Ann, Charlie, Larry and all the rest of Uncle Arnold’s family – my heart goes out to all of you. Arnold was a loving, funny, special person. We will all miss him so much.
