Darlene Chmelka, 82 of Malmo, NE, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Saunders House in Wahoo, NE.  She was born August 26, 1933 in Prague, NE to Frank and Christina (Mach) Chmelka.  Darlene attended District 34 country school and graduated from Malmo High School in 1951.

She was a waitress at Hakel’s Café for 32 years (if you knew her, you knew she loved making malts) and Pizza Hut for 13 years.  Darlene was a member of the Czech Presbyterian Church and the Malmo Legion #232 Auxiliary.  She enjoyed mowing on the farm that she lived on for the past 50 years.  She was an avid dog lover and always had a dog or two in her life.

She is survived by brother Leonard (Shirley) Chmelka of Malmo; sisters: Helen Douglas of Wahoo and Gladys (Joe) Cihal of Malmo; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Christina Chmelka; siblings: Frank Chmelka Jr., Clara Warner, Joe Chmelka, Raymond Chmelka, and Richard Chmelka; brothers-in-law Ernest Kratky and Bob Douglas; sister-in-law Jane Chmelka; nephew Tim Chmelka; and niece Patty Kratky.
