Mead Fire & Rescue ~ Mead, Nebraska
Curtis A. Pearson, 66, of Mead, NE, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Curt was born October 30, 1957 in Wahoo, NE to Robert W. and Elaine M. (Bergman) Pearson, the second of two children. He graduated from Mead High School in 1976 and went on to earn a degree in Automotive Technology from Southeast Community College in Milford, NE. Curt was united in marriage to Donna Schultz in David City, NE on October 6, 1984. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Brian and Lindsey.
Curt spent many years working for Big Rig Repair/Truck Accessories in Gretna and The Fab Shop in Wahoo. Curt served his community in many ways including as a Volunteer with the Mead Fire Department for 35 years as a firefighter and EMT, ascending to the rank of Assistant Chief for a term. He served for 8 years on the Mead Town Board, on the Saunders County Historical Society Museum Board, and on the Morningside Cemetery Board. In a role inherited from his father, he would place American flags at the gravesites of veterans and read aloud the Mead area deceased veterans’ names for the Memorial Day Service. He now passes this role on to his son, Brian.
Curt was a lifelong Mead resident and member of the Mead Covenant Church. He loved cooking, running the bar-b-que, taking road trips with his wife on their motorcycle, blacksmithing at Camp Creek Threshers and the county museum, and John Deere tractors. His greatest joy was his family and his proudest role was as Papa to his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 years, Donna Pearson; children, Brian (and wife, Christi) Pearson and Lindsey Pearson; grandchildren, Lilly Mae Pearson and Jackson Curtis Pearson; sister, Glenda Russell; nephews, Andrew Russell, Adam Russell and Matt Zessin; niece, Kelsey Zessin; sister-in-law, DeAnn (and husband, Bill) Fishman; brother-in-law, Dwayne Zessin; and countless other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elaine Pearson.
