Norma M. Kontos, 97, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion, NE. She was born February 15, 1927 in Plasi, NE to Louis and Emma (Stanilious) Polak. On April 21, 1948, Norma was united in marriage to Edward Kontos at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE.
Norma spent many years as a caregiver at Haven House in Wahoo. She also worked at Kontos Cleaners, and she helped at the thrift store in Wahoo. In retirement, Norma enjoyed volunteering at the Saunders County Fair and at the museum. She also enjoyed sewing, traveling, trips to the casino and looking for deals at auctions. Family was always the most important part of her life, and she loved attending her grandkids’ activities.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Elaine) Kontos, Jean Semrad and Jane (Randy) Preshun; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kontos; parents, Louis and Emma Polak; brother, Don Polak; son-in-law, Paul Semrad.
My sincere condolences to all family! May you find comfort in the loving memories of your loved one.
She was a great lady glad I got to meet her and work with her very sweet lady.
So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was so much fun when I came to your house in Wahoo. She probably didnt like it when we visited during Midnight Mass
We are deeply saddened about the passing of your mother . . . our Aunt Norma.
As we all know, Aunt Norma was a very kind person, a dear aunt, and caring mother and friend. Among our fondest memories are those when Judy and I, my mom and, at times, Richard and Kenny, shared lunch with her in Westin:
Two or three pieces of fried chicken, French fries or potato salad, and a large drink, all for less than a small handful of dollars and a little change. Plus, in the right months, a piece of real rhubarb pie, meaning, no strawberries, sugar or sweeteners!
And, most importantly, heartwarming nuggets of, and now much to be missed, endearing conversation.
Our hearts, though saddened, are full of joy and thanks for knowing such a great lady!
May she rest in peace and may she pray for us as we pray for her and all of her family: Uncle Ed and you and your families.
Much love, Rich & Judy
