Leonard W. Masek, 86 of Valparaiso, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at his home in Valparaiso surrounded by his family. He was born October 15, 1927 in Valparaiso, NE to Joseph and Anna (Jirovsky) Masek. Leonard graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1945. On November 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Hawkinson.

He was a lifelong farmer that enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved polka music, baseball, and garage sales. He was a lifetime member of Sts. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army after WWII.

He is survived by wife of 60 years, Bonnie Masek; children, Leonita Masek of Lincoln, Doug (Ronda) Masek of Valparaiso, Randy Masek of Valparaiso, Cheryl (Randy) Rieck of Valparaiso, and Jackie (Kenny) Maly of Valparaiso; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; sister, Genevieve Kobza; sister-in-law, Rose Masek.

Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Anna Masek; brothers, Joe and Harry Masek; sisters, Anna Masek, Veronica Rerucha, Antonia Kobza, and Elizabeth Gates.
