In Care of the Family or St. Wenceslaus School

Eleven year old Alexander Elliott Divis of Wahoo entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2014 at his home in Wahoo, NE. He was born March 25, 2003 in Fremont, NE to Jon-Erik and Beth (Johnson) Divis.  Alex was going to be a 5th grader at St. Wenceslaus School, but his life demanded more from him than the average 5th grader.  Although he had been fighting a vicious battle with cancer for the past year and a half, that doesn’t define who he was. Alex was mature beyond his years- an old soul. The strength he displayed throughout his life amazed everyone who knew him. Even in his darkest days, his smile would brighten up the room.

Alex was a passionate child that loved hockey, magic, video games and listening to music.  He was a member of the Society of Young Magicians and had a knack for slight of hand. He loved to learn and ask questions and when he found something that interested him, he took time to learn all he could about it.  He had become an avid gamer and could beat his dad at Xbox.  Anyone who spoke to Alex was forced to learn about his love for hockey. He was passionate about the sport the way only a young boy can be and his knowledge for the game, the players and its history was apparent in almost every conversation. Alex was a humble person that was very comfortable in his own skin.  He knew who he was and was content with himself.

Alex’s faith was an inspiration for many people. His love for The Lord and his belief in life after death are what bring comfort to his family and friends. He impacted more people in his 11 short years than many do in a lifetime.

He is survived by parents, Jon-Erik and Beth Divis; brother, Oscar; grandparents, Paul and Jill Johnson of Wahoo, Earl and Gayle Buck of Wahoo, and Nick Siedell of Lincoln; many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Rev. Charles Townsend will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Adam Johnson, Bil Johnson, Steve Woita, Brett Davidson, Jeff Quinn, and Scott Klinger.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Eddie, Greg Kavan Sr., Miles Hannan, Colin Ludvik, Zane Abler, and Cadin McGuigan.

Condolences for Alexander Elliott Divis

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest [2] my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. May Alex Rest In Peace in the House of the Lord!!

It’s so hard to explain how Alex and your family have touched the hearts of so very many. Even though I have never met you or him I feel so connected to you all. The word says that there is no distance in the spirit. So I think by all of us praying in one accord we were brought close together. I will continue to pray for your family in the coming weeks and months as I know how difficult the road ahead can be. Alex is at rest at last, but I can’t imagine the emptiness you feel. God bless you.and may He hold you up with His strong right arm.

I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the entire family of Alex Divis. It’s always heart breaking to see a life taken from this world at such an early age. It is difficult to find the words to express how deeply I feel for Alex’s family during this difficult time, just know that you are in my thoughts and that Alex is now at peace. I am reminded of the following parting words, my journey on this earth may have been brief, but my family and friends made it all worth while, I’m at peace now, no more pain, no more suffering. You, my loved ones and dearest friends, gave me the strength each and every day to live, but now my time has come to say farewell, I will see you again, but for now, I will rest my weary head, until the day we meet again.

R.I.P Alexander Elliott Divis, your battle is now over and you can rest. May you watch over those who will forever miss you and those that share in your families grief. Farewell young lad until we meet again.

Reading about your “Little Angel” brought this song to mind, to me it says it all. (If You Could See Me Now) We’re all enjoying Jesus just setting at his feet…If you could see me now, I’m walking streets of gold, if you could see me now, I’m standing tall and whole, if you could see me now, you’d know I’ve seen his face, if you could see me now, you’d know the pains erased…You wouldn’t want me to ever leave this perfect place…If you could see me now!
God Bless you and your family may you find rest in his strength.

I met Alex at UNMC. I mistakenly thought that the pillow that had the indian on it was for the Washington Redskins. Well, Alex straightened me out straight away. That’s the Chicago Blackhawks. It is true that his smile could light up a room. I have been thinking about him, and praying for him since the day I met him. He fought the good fight. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. May the perpetual light shine upon him. I am sure that God has a special place reserved for him. May he rest in peace.
