In Care of the Family

Junior “Shorty” Burnley, 80, of Wahoo, NE, entered his eternal rest on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. He was born June 26, 1934 in Centerville, Iowa.  Junior was raised and attended school in the Salina, KS area.  He was united in marriage to Donna Campbell in Oakland, CA on April 5, 1958.

Junior was a proud veteran that faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later he transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard.  For most of the last 30 years, Junior worked as a bowling alley mechanic in Colorado Springs, CO and Lincoln, NE.  He moved to Wahoo in 2006.  He loved bowling and country music.  Singing, gardening, and landscaping always brought him joy, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with and making music with his family.

He is survived by wife, Donna Burnley; children, Linda Burnley of Wahoo, Janet (Thomas) Laird of San Antonio, TX, David Burnley of Firth, NE, and Teresa (Clinton) Huestis of Ticonderoga, NY; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Myrtle (Gay) Burnley.

Pastor Jon Garbison will officiate the service.
