Paul Michael Giles, 82, of Gretna, NE, entered into rest on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Saunders Medical Center LTC in Wahoo, NE.  He was born April 6, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to William B. and Jennie (Monaghan) Giles.  On August 31, 1971, Mike was married to Karen Spencer in Lynch, NE.

Mike entered into the U.S. Navy on March 19, 1959 and served his country for 20 years until he retired on November 30, 1980.  After military retirement Mike instructed electronics to sailors at Naval Station Great Lakes, installed medical diagnostic equipment for Varian, and a ranger for Big Oaks Golf Course.

Mike was a member of the Anchor & Ark Masonic Lodge 1027 and the Zion Benton Moose Lodge.  His great life pleasures were spending time with family, golfing at every opportunity, reading, and visiting with anyone.

He is survived by children, Paul M. II (Jackie) Giles of Adel, IA, Spencer W. (Janna) Giles of Valley, NE and Amanda R. (H. Jason IV) Lauck of Wahoo, NE; grandchildren, Piper Giles, Darby Giles, Josyln Giles, Henry Lauck V, Paul Giles III, Emmett Giles, Hazel Lauck and Peyton Giles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

    I really enjoyed Mike’s company. He was easy to talk with. His experience in the Navy was beneficial when being on a boat with him 🙂

    So Sorry to hear of Mike’s passing, I enjoyed hearing the stories he had to tell especially the memories he had with my Dad!
