August “Augie” Weiss, 84, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home in Wahoo, NE.  He was born September 4, 1939 in Norfolk, NE to August and Catherine (Dohmen) Weiss.

August attended St. Leonard’s Grade School, Madison High School and Norfolk Junior College.  On June 8, 1967, August was united in marriage to Marianne Johnson at St. Francis Catholic Church in Randolph, NE.  Following college, August farmed near St. Bernard, NE and in 1980 he moved to a farm near Madison, NE.  August and Marianne moved to Wahoo, NE in 2006.

August served as a member of the Madison Public School Board and the St. Leonard Catholic Church Parish Council.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight.  August enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, feeding his birds and squirrels and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Marianne Weiss; children, Julie (Mark) Sunderman of Humphrey, NE, Sue (Craig) Wehrle of Papillion, NE, Mike (Connie) Weiss of Wahoo, NE, Barb (Mike) Choutka of Timnath, CO, Karen (Rod) Gunn of Netherlands and Mark (Lynn) Weiss of Centennial, CO; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen (Jerry) Aschoff; many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by son, John A. Weiss; daughter, Janet Prochaska; parents, August and Catherine Weiss; brother, Lawrence Weiss; sister, Rose Marie Huettner.

    Dear Family,

    Our hearts go out to all of you regarding the loss of Augie. I taught and/or coached many of Augie’s children and some of their spouses. Rest assured that Augie is in good hands with Jesus in paradise. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
