Bessie H. Voboril, 88 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo. She was born May 3, 1925 in rural Valparaiso, NE to Frank and Josephine (Furasek) Steyer. Bessie attended District 116 country school and graduated from Valparaiso High School. She attended the summer session at Midland College in 1941; took and passed the teacher’s exams and started teaching in August. She continued her education for teacher credit at Peru State College and UNL. On August 23, 1948, Bessie was united in marriage to Anton James Voboril at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy, NE. Through the years she taught at District 28, District 113, and District 49 country schools. She taught at St. John School in Weston for 18 years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where she was very active in the PCCW and Altar Rosary Society. She was a past president of the PCCW and the DCCW. Bessie had a St. Wenceslaus Holy Hour for over 60 years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Cursillo, Ultreya, and she was a correspondent for the Southern Nebraska Register. Volunteering at the care center always brought her joy, whether she was helping with the weekly rosary or bingo. Gardening is where she spent a lot of time, but she also loved scrapbooking, word puzzles, watching Husker games and Wheel of Fortune, baking, and sending birthday and anniversary cards to family and friends. Bessie was a God parent and confirmation sponsor for many children through the years.

My sympathies to my cousins and their families. I am sure, by the way Aunt Bessie lived her life that she was prepared for the next step of “eternal life”. Aunt Bessie and Uncle Tony were my second set of parents. They are together, again.
Our sympathy to you and Mary and your families. May God’s peace be with you, and may you faith in Christ’s victory give you hope and comfort!

Very sweet lady and great teacher. 35 years later and I still get compliments on my handwriting. Thank you Mrs. Voboril, you will be missed.
God has his arms wrapped around Aunt Bessie and she is now healed. Goodbye Aunt Bessie and may your family be comforted in your reunion with all family and friends who went before you. My deepest sympathy to all of the family.
Our sympathy to Bessie’s family. She was a great teacher, mentor and she taught me the power of prayer. She will be missed.
