Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Masek, 93, of Valparaiso, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE.  She was born November 21, 1930 in Valparaiso, NE to Ray and Theresa (Waiss) Hawkinson.  Bonnie graduated from Valparaiso High School.  On November 28, 1953, Bonnie was united in marriage to Leonard W. Masek at St. Mary Catholic Church in Valparaiso, NE.

Bonnie was a bus driver for Raymond Central Public Schools for 29 years.  She also worked at Harry’s IGA in Valparaiso, NE.  Bonnie enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and find-a-word puzzles.  She was an animal lover and she loved spending time at the Valparaiso Senior Center.

She is survived by her children, Leonita Masek of Lincoln, NE, Doug (Ronda) Masek, Randy (special friend, Jen) Masek, Cheryl (Randy) Rieck and Jackie (Kenny) Maly all of Valparaiso, NE; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Paula (Gene) Hottovy and Sandy (George) Gubser; many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents, Ray and Theresa Hawkinson.
