Charles “Chuck” Roger Stoakes died on January 24th at the age of 78. He died peacefully in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by family throughout his last days.

Chuck was born in Wahoo, Nebraska on May 18, 1943.  He graduated Mead High School in 1962.  After graduation he served in the United States Air Force.  Upon being honorably discharged from the military, he was immediately employed by the National Security Agency for which he and his family were extremely proud.

Throughout his life, he started a number of his own businesses, and was always surrounded by televisions, VCR’s, and high-end projectors for home and business use.  He really could fix anything that was even remotely related to electronics.

Chuck was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Attending games and graduations in support.  His laugh, sense of humor, and love impacted so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon & Elda Stoakes, brother Steve, sister Deanna, brother-in-law Terry, son Mark Charles, and grandson Jeremy Brede.

He is survived by his wife Bonna Mae, brother Michael (Dian), sister Sandi, and children Teresa, Annette, Ric (Ranae), Terry (Lori), Bruce (Robin), Joel (Julie), Scott (Kendra), Matthew (Bobbi), Nicole, Amber (Mark), and more grandkids than spare projector parts.

The funeral service will be held for his immediate family at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo, NE on Sunday January 30th at 11:00am.  The family is planning for an all included celebration of life this summer. Chuck will have his final resting place in Sunrise Cemetery outside of Wahoo Nebraska.

My most sincere sympathy to Bonna and all of Chuck’s Family & Friends.
The Stoakes family made a great impact in my role as pool league coordinator. They love the sport of pool and at their peak were competing at the highest level in Nebraska.
I miss all of the long conversations about pool we used to have, occasionally over a cold one.
They took time to get to know me as a person and that is truly appreciated.
I will keep my eyes open for Chuck’s Celebration of Life when that is scheduled and hope to see all of you then.
    RIP Chuck.
    Sincerely,
    Marshall Kohtz….Lincoln, NE

He was one of the best in pool at his peak and I was always trying to keep up with him as a shooter! He was there from the start of VVS and will be miss by many! Prayers and sympathy to the family! R.I P. Chuck!

My sympathies to the Stoakes family. I grew up next door to Chuck & Mike in Mead, NE. I remember their Mom made THE BEST cinnamon rolls. Had I not moved away in 1957 I would have graduated with Mike. Chuck and I had some “kid’s disagreements” at one time but nothing so serious that it didn’t blow away in a few hours. Always considered him my friend. I’m so sorry for your loss.
