Cruz Michael Benes, born on March 29, 2023, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home, and in the arms of his loving parents on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Cruz was diagnosed with Congenital CMV at birth. He spent one month in the NICU at Bryan LGH until he was transferred to the NICU at Children’s Hospital where he stayed for three more months. He was able to join parents Brent and Megan, and big brother Asher at home on July 31, 2023.
Cruz loved being held, and Mom and Dad enjoyed tickling him, which always made him giggle and smile. His brother never missed the opportunity to show him his monster trucks and race cars.
Though his life was short, Cruz touched so many with his sweet little personality and angelic smile. He was unconditionally loved by all every moment of his life.
He is survived by his parents Brent and Megan, brother Asher, Grandparents Mike and Gale Poe and Doug and Mary Benes, great-grandparents Voyle Miller and Geraldine Benes and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
I’m very sorry to hear of the loss of your grandson. I know that you were looking forward to spending more time with him once you retired. My condolences to you and your family during this difficult time as well as it being the holiday season. My prayers are with you and your family.
