Masses or In Care of the Family
David Ralph Wesely, 65 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was born March 23, 1948 in Wahoo, NE to Ralph and Arline (Benes) Wesely.
Dave loved his faith and had a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother. He loved his family and was most happy spending time with them. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need. Growing up in a farm family, Dave learned the value of being a hard worker. He loved farming and farm machinery; learning to drive a tractor at the tender age of 8. He enjoyed doing any and all outdoor activities, whether work or play, and he loved and appreciated God’s created wonders. He was famous for his two handed “set shot” in basketball and it was called upon to win many basketball contests. His enthusiasm and positive attitude were contagious. He often sang sweetly to his children and grandchildren. Dave was loved by many and will be missed by all.
He is survived by wife, Rita Jeanne (Ptacek) Wesely; children, Laura (Greg) Grundmayer of Gretna, NE, Mike (Tracy) Wesely of Lincoln, Emily (Jason) Sunday of Two Harbors, MN, Maggie Wesely of Lincoln, Andy (Meg) Wesely of Yankton, SD, Matthew (Amy) Wesely of Omaha, Christopher Wesely of Omaha, and Joseph Wesely of Omaha; 8 grandchildren; brothers, Rod Wesely of Lincoln and Tom (Jean McBride) Wesely of Elkhorn, NE; sisters, Rebecca (Robert) Duncan of Lincoln and Rita Jo Wesely of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Arline (Benes) Wesely; grandparents, Rudy and Anna (Voboril) Wesely and Tom and Emilie (Hajek) Benes.
Rev. Charles Townsend will be officiating.

May you find comfort in the thought that while it’s always too soon to say “goodbye” to someone who is such an important part of your life, there are others in a far more beautiful place waiting to say “welcome home”. Heartfelt sympathy is with you during this time of loss, Kathi Rouse
I’m remembering our younger days: Dave playing trombone in Neumann’s band, music contests, riding to band practice with Becky and Dave in his white T-bird, accompanying Beck and Dave singing a duet in chruch in Davey, being organist at Dave and Rita’s wedding . . . May you now sing God’s praises, forever in peace and joy.
Sr. Mary Jo Polak, OSB
I will remember my cousin Dave as a young boy and then a young man. So positive. So lively. So much fun to be around. And then as a “big brother,” So kind. He seemed to always have the sunshine in his face. Now, he always will. Thank you for all the happy memories, Dave. And for always showing up whenever you had the chance. I am deeply sorry for everyone who will miss you. Have fun in Heaven!
Very fond memories of Dave and the Wesley Family and extended family from my years in Wahoo at St. Wenceslaus. May God grant him Eternal Rest. May consolation come to the entire family. Be assured of my prayers.
Fr. Thomas Dunavan
I’m remembering Dave as my sweet, fun cousin. He sang, with his brothers, at our wedding; unforgettable! I won’t forget the times we all would get together to sing; Dave had the Sweetest voice & always had something funny to say. He has the sweetest kids; they are a reflection of him. I’m sorry you have to be without your Dad so young. He will be remembered as a sweet, fun-loving, happy, non-judgmental person!
Rita and family, my most sincere sympathy to all of you in the loss of your loved one. My prayers are for peace and comfort for all of you.
Dear Rita and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I know its a very difficult time. My prayers to you and your family
Rita, Christopher and family:
