Donald F. Maly, 82 of Valparaiso, NE entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Sumner Place in Lincoln, NE.  He was born December 9, 1940, in Lincoln to William and Helen (Tvrdy) Maly.  He graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1958 and attended John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo.  Don served his country in the U.S Airforce and was honorably discharged in 1961.  He continued his military service in the Air National Guard until 1966.  Don was united in marriage to Louise Ann “LuAnn” Hladky on October 10, 1964, at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Seward, NE.

Don loved his life on the family farm near Touhy where he farmed and raised livestock.  He was also employed at Window Technologies in Lincoln.  He was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church and American Legion #371.

Don was a hardworking and gentle man who loved spending time with his family.  He enjoyed being outdoors and his John Deere tractors.  He enjoyed woodworking and built many bird feeders, birdhouses, and planters.  He loved his Coke and snacks.  As much as he loved his snacks, he found much enjoyment in sharing them with those around him.

Don is survived by his wife, LuAnn Maly; children, Sharon Strauch, Kenny (Jackie) Maly, Dan Maly: grandchildren, Christaen Strauch, Kayla Strauch, Ryan Maly, Alyssa Maly, Anthony Jarrett Hemphill; sisters, Mildred Roh, Wilma Wolfe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Maly; daughter, Sandra Maly.

I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I will never forget his smile and laugh. It filled the room. My sister Julie and I would sit in the last bench at St Vitus church with Don on occasion and he was always so accepting. On behalf of the Walla family, we will continue to keep Don and your family in our prayers.
