In care of the family

Dorothy “Dottie” A. Sladky, 83, of Valparaiso, NE, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at The Monarch in Lincoln, NE.  She was born March 24, 1940 in Seward, NE to George A. and Rose M. (Matejcek) Skoda.  Dorothy was raised on a farm North of Bee, NE.  She graduated from Seward High School in 1958.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Leonard J. Pospisil on June 7, 1958 and two sons were born to this union.  On September 12, 1994, she was married to Math J. Sladky.

Dorothy had a great love for animals, especially cats.  She was seen every morning putting out food and water, so no animals would go hungry.  She also loved to go camping and fishing.  Her great love for polka music was dancing and most of all playing button accordion, which she never learned until she was 62 years old.  She was inducted into the Milligan Polka Hall of Fame on January 22, 2022, which made her very proud.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, mother and father, brother, Richard and husband, Math Sladky.

Left to mourn her death are her sons, Leonard J. Pospisil Jr. and Lawrence (Kim) Pospisil, both from Phoenix, AZ; brother, Leonard (Irma) Skoda; grandsons, Ryan Pospisil, Corey Pospisil and Shawn (Hillary) Pospisil; granddaughters, Marissa (Darin) Forman and Malynda (Tony) Mart; step-grandchildren, William (Erica) Koontz and Ashley Beetem; Eight great-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
