Eileen M. Shanahan, 86 of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on, Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo. She was born May 18, 1928 in Prague, NE to Joseph and Clara (Stara) Fujan. Eileen graduated from Fremont High School and soon after began teaching country school. She taught for five years which included time in Colon and District #92 near Dwight. On April 21, 1952, she was united in marriage to Robert Shanahan at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. After teaching, Eileen was a housewife for several years before starting a career at Platte Valley Foods in food production. She was always a full-time mother, grandmother, and farm wife.

Eileen was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and a past member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. She loved gardening, baking, and polka music. She always enjoyed playing cards and supporting her grandchildren in their activities. She was a great wife to Robert and a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by husband of 62 years, Robert Shanahan; children, Carol (Robert) Slabaugh of Omaha, Mary Kay (Nicholas) Dimas of Wahoo, Mick (Marcia) Shanahan of Elkhorn, Kathy (Clark) Rasmussen of Grand Island, Robert (Carey) Shanahan of Wahoo; grandchildren, Molly and Mitchell Murphy, Andy and Danielle Shanahan, Brenna and Bria Rasmussen, Tricia, Schyler, and Trey Shanahan; great-grandson, Landon Shanahan; brother, Jim (Marlene) Fujan of Prague.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe Fujan and Ray Fujan; sisters, Clara Fujan and Maxine Kudlacek.

Rev. Charles Townsend will be officiating.
