Genevieve Theresa Egr, 86 of Weston, NE, entered into eternal rest, Friday, June 13, 2014 at her home in rural Weston. She was born January 2, 1928 in Prague, NE to Louis and Mary (Sladky) Brtek. She was a past member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was also baptized. After she attended catholic school in Prague until the 8th grade, she then went on to graduate from Prague High School in May of 1946. On April 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to George J. Egr and then they moved to a farm near Plasi. Genevieve was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi and she was active in the Rosary Society and she helped with record keeping.
Through the years, she worked at Whiteway Café, the courthouse in the assessor’s office, the General Dynamics missile base in Mead, and then the Bank of Prague. She retired from the Bank of Prague on December 31, 1992. They retired and stayed living on the same farm where they enjoyed the outdoor life and continued to help the church with records. She also loved to bake and cook.
She is survived by husband of 66 years, George Egr; sister, Mary Lou Cihal of Wahoo; brother, Louis T. Brtek of Norfolk; nieces and nephews, Linda Maly, Lyle (Linda) Maly and Trevor, Laura (Duane) Eivins and Noah.
Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Mary Brtek; sister, Margaret Maly.
