George J. Egr, 91 of Weston entered into eternal rest Friday, December 21, 2018 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, NE.  He was born April 24, 1927 in Prague, NE to Frank Egr, Jr. and Mary (Vanek) Egr.  He was baptized and a life-long member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi, NE.  George attended Saunders County Country School District #84 of Prague to the 8th grade.  He entered the Airforce May 9, 1946 during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines Islands until he was honorably discharged on June 6, 1947.

George was united in marriage on April 15, 1948 to Genevieve Brtek at St. John the Baptist Church in Prague, NE.  They lived on a farm by Plasi while farming and raising “white faced” cattle.  George later took a correspondence class in electronics and went to work with Carl Anderson working on TV’s and started Egr TV Sales & Service on his farm until he retired.

George was a Church Trustee in Plasi and served on the Board of Directors at the Bank of Prague for over 40 years.  He enjoyed vegetable gardening, the outdoors and his farm life.

He is survived by his nephew, Lyle (Linda) Maly, nieces, Linda Maly, Laura (Duane) Eivins, other nieces & nephews; great nieces & nephews; brother, Stanley Egr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank, Jr. and Mary Egr; wife, Genevieve Egr; brothers, Anton, Emil, Frank, Charlie Egr; sisters, Mary Ruzek and Anne Bouc.

    So sorry to hear of Uncle George’s passing. We have many fond memories of both George and Genney when we were kids. Bless them both. Our condolences to the family and apologies that we weren’t able to attend as we are currently out of state.
