OUR Homes or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lincoln, NE

George J. Meduna, 69, of Lincoln, NE, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home in Lincoln, NE.  He was born February 1, 1952 in Wahoo, NE to George L. and Ludmilla (Coufal) Meduna.  George attended country school, St. Wenceslaus School and Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo, NE.  He worked for the State of Nebraska.

George was a very popular guy at OUR Homes in Lincoln, NE.  Multiple times the staff, caretakers and people who lived there told us that George was a favorite person at the house.  He had lots of friends and a wonderful church community at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  George liked to wear bib overalls and would say hello to all that he met.  George was happy in his life and thankful for visitors that came to see him.  He received the best care from his case worker, Greg Bernt and Dr. Roy.  He lived a good long life and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ludmilla Meduna; sister, Diane Nelson; nephew, Nick High.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann (Chris) High; Janice (Mark) Meyerson; brother-in-law, Tim Nelson; and three nieces and two nephews.

Condolences for George J. Meduna

My heart is hurting but heaven gained another angel. George was the kindest and gentlest soul. It was a privilege to have known him and spent time with him over the past 3 decades. Rest in Peace.

George always spoke to me before mass, and lately it was adding a ‘fist bump.’ Sacred Heart Church is less of a community family for George’s absence. Thank you George for all you did and we will see you in heaven!!

One of the highlights of my First Friday Communion calls was greeting George, who always waited for me at the entrance to his building. As we walked to his room we would talk a little, then have our time of prayer and Holy Communion. He lifted me up because his devotion to the Lord was so apparent. He was also one of those rare birds who walked to church for weekday Mass whenever he could, living farther away from church than some people who drove. It was a pretty good distance for him to travel. George was definitely devout and clearly had a good relationship with Our Lord. May he see the face of God!
