Jackie L. Boquist age 76 of rural Wahoo was found in a heavenly sleep on May 7th.  She was born on April 2, 1948, to Pauline and Wilber Boquist. Jackie graduated from Wahoo High School.  Over the years, she held several jobs including working in food service at UNL, was the head custodian for Raymond Central Public Schools at Ceresco from 1978 to 2007, and later worked as a cook for the school from 2010 to 2013.  Jackie took great pride in her work and loved working with the staff and students.  In later years, until her passing, Jackie volunteered her time as a team member of the Raymond Central “Back Pack” program.  For more than 40 years, she lived in the Grace Lutheran Church parsonage and during this time she cleaned the church, mowed the cemetery, and kept the grounds.

Jackie lived her life as a faithful servant of God. She was a life-long member of the Ceresco United Methodist Church where she served as the lay leader for many years.  She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s group and was always a willing and hard worker, helping with many church activities.

Jackie loved traveling and playing card games with her friends.  She was an animal lover, having a couple dogs and many kitty’s over the years. Jackie loved a good cup of coffee and just sitting around visiting with people.  She was a prankster and loved telling jokes.  When you saw Jackie, you were sure to have heard at least one of her many jokes, as she loved to get you to smile and laugh. Jackie was a true friend to all who knew her.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Willard Boquist, sister Waunetta Boquist, and cousins.

I will miss Jackie. She was my last cousin on my father’s side. Pauline, Jackie’s mom, was my dad, Warren B. Hughes’ sister. I am in Central Wisconsin. I will see about attending the funeral. Thank you to those who wrote this beautiful obituary.

Jackie was a loving cousin and good friend.
She was always ready to help others.
We shared some good times together including
coffee and talking about our cats. I can still see her buzzing around in her PT Cruiser…
picking up Nita and meeting me and Ronda at the Barn Door after church…She is deeply missed. Jesus has called her home… Love Rita
