Jeanne M. (TePoel) Vanek, 73, of Prague, NE, entered into eternal rest at her home in Prague, NE surrounded by her family on Friday, October 13, 2023 after a battle with cancer.  She was born November 9, 1949 in Wahoo, NE to Raymond and Irene (Musilek) TePoel.  Jeanne attended St. John School in Prague through the 8th grade, and then she graduated from Prague High School.  On June 7, 1969, Jeanne was united in marriage to Ronald Vanek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague, NE.  From this marriage, five children were born.

Through the years, Jeanne worked for the Saunders County Assessor’s office and Security Home Bank in Malmo, NE.  She retired from Security Home Bank in 2009 after 33 years.  She was a past member of the Jayceettees.  Jeanne enjoyed sewing, gardening, deer hunting, walking, and attending her grandkids’ activities. She loved cooking and baking.  She was known for her famous Sunshine Rolls.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald Vanek; children: Tracy (Roger) Kubik of Wahoo, NE; Ryan (Michelle) Vanek of Prague, NE; Deanna (Ron) Hanke of Waverly, NE; Jessica (Jim) Zalesky of Ashland, NE; and Russell Vanek (Allison Sommerfeld) of Waverly.  Grandchildren: Ben (Amy) Kubik, Alex (Emily) Kubik, Zach (Daryl) Kubik, Holly Kubik (Braxton Dupree); Courtney, Gunnar, and Miranda Vanek; Madison, Hunter, Sydney, and Rylee Hanke; Jacob and Janessa Zalesky; Easton Vanek.  Great-Grandchildren: Kylee, Lily, JR, and Jase Kubik; Trevor, Charlie, McKenzie, and Zander Kubik; Creighton and Sutton Kubik.
