In Care of the Family
Kenneth G. Krumpus was born July 18, 1940 in Wahoo to Ralph and Margaret (Rezek) Krumpus. He attended St. Wenceslaus School through the eighth grade and graduated from Wahoo Public High School in 1958. He had attended Luther College in Wahoo for one year when his father died and he could no longer attend college. He began working as a machinist at Western Electric in Omaha in 1959. He worked there until his retirement in 1997. Kenneth was married to Lana Van Norman on Apr. 20, 1968 in Moville, IA. They lived in Omaha from 1968 until 1970 when they built their home in Wahoo. Kenneth passed away Jan. 23, 2014 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha. Kenneth was a member of Alma Lutheran Church in Mead, NE where he had served on the council. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2971 of Wahoo and he served as a Cub Scout leader when his boys were young.
Kenneth loved camping, from his younger years using a tent, to later on with their fifth wheel camper. He was an excellent woodworker, building cabinets, decorative items, desks and furniture with intricate scrollwork. He also enjoyed raising a vegetable garden and doing yard work.
He is survived by his wife Lana; sons and daughters in law, Michael and Franziska Schneider Krumpus, Plymouth, MN, Mark Krumpus, Derby, KS, and Darrin and Jennifer Krumpus, Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Paul, Peter, Gus and Josie. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Krieser.
We are so sorry for your loss.
Lana, so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family.
We will always remember the numerous times Kenny and Lana would walk the streets of Wahoo! We could tell their walk blocks away! Good memories! They were good customers to us in the Sears and Western Auto days! We’re sorry for your loss!
The thoughts and prayers of Ken’s co-workers at AT&T/Western Electric are with his family.
Lana, boys and families, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely, Kevin and Judy Stukenholtz
