Leonard J. Polacek, Sr., 91, of Elkhorn, NE, formerly of Weston and Wahoo, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. He was born November 24, 1931 near Loma, NE to James and Mary (Voboril) Polacek. Leonard served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He was stationed at Fort Roberts in California and Fort Lewis in Washington. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Leonard farmed near Weston, NE until his retirement in 2009.
On October 1, 1957, Leonard was united in marriage to Louise Polak at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses, NE. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting or fishing. Leonard loved watching his grandkids activities and spending time with family. He was easy to visit with and everyone knew about his good sense of humor.
Leonard was a past member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church where he was a choir member with his wife Louise for many years. He was a member of the Catholic Workmen serving many years as an officer, Knights of Columbus #1833 and American Legion Post #308.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Polacek; children, Leonard Jr. (Lisa) Polacek, Steve (Peggy) Polacek, Lori (Kent) Lee, Julie (Rolley) Bennett; grandchildren, David (Kristy) Polacek, Daniel (Kacie) Polacek, Rebecca (Mac) Caldwell, Chase (Trish) Polacek, Connor Polacek, Taylor Polacek, Rachel (fiancé, Eric Vanecek) Lee, Justin Lee, Nick (Hailey) Bennett, Mary Bennett; great-grandchildren, Caroline Polacek, Amelia Polacek, Sarah Grace Caldwell, Elouise “Ellie” Caldwell; brother, Milo (Rosalie) Polacek; sister-in-law, Geraldine Polacek; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by great-grandsons, James Henry Polacek and Owen James Polacek; parents, James and Mary Polacek; siblings, Alice (Rudy) Rech, Mary (Clem) Waskowiak, Helen (Adolph) Pacula, Ann (Ermin) Holub, Ray Polacek, Lillian (Frank) Belik; infant sister, Milada Polacek; brother-in-law, Ernie Polak.
