Loren W. Berggren, 88 of Mead, NE passed away Monday May 13, 2024 at his home.  He was born June 14, 1935 in Mead, NE to Elmer and Mabel (Lind) Berggren.  He graduated from Mead High School in 1952 and attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha.  He served his country in the U.S. Army working with the Hawk Missiles in White Sands, NM from 1956 to 1958. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bertha “Bert” Shook on January 27, 1961 in Omaha, NE.  Loren worked as quality assurance personnel for Western Electric for 40 plus years before retiring.

He was a member of Alma Lutheran Church where he served on the church board, member of Mead Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, and a Mead School Board member.  He enjoyed driving his John Deere tractor during the Mead Days Parades, tinkering in his garage, traveling with his family on summer vacations, hunting, shooting, and fishing.

Loren is survived by his children, Rich Berggren and Lynette (Michael) Wortmann; grandchildren, Josh Berggren, Candice Davis and Lexie Berggren; great-grandchildren, Irelyn, Delly and Elias Davis; brothers-in-laws, Jerry (Sue) Shook and Don Shook; sisters-in-law, Patty Shook and Phyllis Shook; nephew, Jon (Adrian) Minks; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mabel Berggren; wife, Bertha Berggren; sister, Phyllis (Bud) Minks; sister-in-law, Billie Shook; brothers-in-law, Chuck Shook, Dick Shook; niece, Kay Hutt.
