Marcella “Marcie” (Pavel) Stava, 83 of Weston, NE, entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2024 in Omaha, NE surrounded by family. She was born December 12, 1940 in Dwight, NE to Joseph and Clara (Hottovy) Pavel. Marcie graduated from Seward High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Donald Stava on August 24, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Utica, NE. Don and Marcie were blessed to enjoy nearly 55 years of marriage, and blessed with 5 children.

Marcie was a lifelong farmer, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Don and Marcie made their home on a farm near Weston. In addition to raising crops, Marcie enjoyed and managed their cow/calf operation. She loved tending to her many animals and had a great love for anything outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, Czech music and food, and playing cards. Marcie was a skilled baker and gardener.  In addition to a busy life on the farm and homemaking, she had various jobs, including retail and office work in Seward, a cook at Hakel’s restaurant, and US Census and Saunders County election worker.

Marcie was an active member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. She served her parish as an officer and member of the Plasi Rosary Society, and CCD teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Weston Post #308, and was involved in various community activities such as 4-H.

Marcie considered herself semi-retired from farming, although she never really retired, remaining very active in the family farming operation.

Marcie is survived by children: Susie and Carl Sousek of Prague, Nancy Stava of Wahoo, Connie and Kevin Thulin of Weston, Patrick “Rick” and Kelly Stava of Wahoo, and Dave and Tara Stava of Weston. Grandchildren include: Nick and Linsey Sousek of Wahoo, Jessica and Sam Creal of Prague, Kara and Vinny Lombardo of Colon, Hannah and Matt Thulin of Weston, Joseph, Ryan, and Jacob Stava of Wahoo, and Jamison, Justin, and Jesse Stava of Weston. Great-Grandchildren include: Ben, Angela, and Jason Creal, and Brecken Sousek; sister Leona DiPaolo of Lincoln, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Marcie was preceded in death by her husband Don, her mother and father, Joseph and Clara Pavel, grandparents, brothers and sisters-in-law: Marie and Alois Hottovy, Ann and Leo Rau, Margaret and Adolph Spatz, Tony DiPaolo, Joe Pavel Jr., Angie and Kenny Klein, and Ray and Evelyn Pavel.
