Marie Zetocha, 103 years of Weston, NE, passed away quietly at the Saunders Care Center on Saturday, March 15, 2014.  She was born on a farm near Weston, NE on September 2, 1910 to James and Jennie (Vavra) Kubik.  Marie married Andrew Zetocha on June 19, 1929 and three children were born to this union:  Gladys, Donald, and Alyce.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.  She enjoyed her life on the farm.  She was an avid gardener, she raised chickens, and she was her husband’s helpmate with farming.  She was a wonderful cook and baker.  The family enjoyed her kolaches and dark chocolate cake which were always readily available.  She enjoyed needle work and made many beautiful piecework quilts.  When the children were grown she applied for a position as a cook at a local restaurant.  She was employed there for many years, retiring in her nineties.  Marie moved to Weston after her husband died.  She was active in her church, St. John Nepomucene.  At the age of 98, Marie moved to the Saunders Care Center and she lived there until she passed away.

She is survived by her daughter, Alyce (Eugene) Matulka; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Zetocha; son, Donald Zetocha; daughter and son-in-law, Gladys and Ed Kubik; brother, Laddie Kubik; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Frank Zetocha; brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Rose Kubik.

Rev. Christopher Goodwin will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Jim Kubik, Keith Kubik, Mark Kubik, Randy Zetocha, Kevin Matulka, and Alan Matulka.
