Mary Lou “Sugar” (Ohnoutka) Woita was born in Weston, NE on November 10, 1934 to Raymond William and Marie Katherine (Tomsicek) Ohnoutka.  She grew up in Weston and never ventured too far from home.  In May of 1953 she graduated from Weston High School and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, Roger Max Woita on August 22, 1953 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. Roger and Mary Lou would go on to raise a family of nine children and serve the community they loved through various means over their years in Weston.

Mary Lou’s passion in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Even after overcoming the hardships of raising nine children, her strong will allowed her to conquer losing two sons, breast cancer, two strokes and losing Roger in 2008.  But after almost ninety years, she lost her final battle with dementia on the evening of Friday, March 22, 2024.

Mary Lou was greeted in Heaven by a host of loved ones, namely her parents, best friend and sister, Pat, husband, Roger, sons, Kurt and Russ, grandson, Ryan, and several angelic grandchildren not meant to bless this earth.  She leaves to mourn her loss, seven children, Rick & Marcia Woita of Wahoo, Cindy & Phil Rowland of Columbus, Gwenn Arney & Kevin Harnett of Weston, Kim & Steve Otte of Wahoo, Becky & Paul Hattan of Lincoln, Jeff & Stacy Woita of Lincoln and Stacy & Russ Sehnert of Lincoln as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
