Maxine M. Ptacek, 93, of Winfield, KS, formerly of Wahoo, NE, entered into rest on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Wichita, KS. She was born November 16, 1929 in Prague, NE to John and Anna (Vavra) Fronk. Maxine attended District #68 country school near Weston, NE and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1947. On January 17, 1950, Maxine was united in marriage to Joseph Ptacek at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston, NE.
Over the years, Maxine worked for Linden Café and Wigwam in Wahoo, Hilltop Café at Rays Oil and Henningson’s egg plant.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Major; grandchildren, Penny (Paul) Pennington, David Kerwin and Adam (Krystal) Kerwin; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Kerwin, Avery Kerwin and Benjamin Pennington; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Ptacek; son, Calvin Ptacek; great-grandson, Kristopher Kerwin; infant brother, Edward; sister, Clara Fujan.
We always enjoyed Maxine coming to the Wahoo Senior Center. I loved to ask her questions about the Bohemian Alps. Your family is in our prayers.

So sorry to read of the passing of your mom. My Mother was Wilma Milacek Osmera Yeager. Mom and your mom were cousins also of Gertrude Meduna, Mildred Novak both deceased and Maxine Barnhill whom is in a home in Fremont Ne. Your mom would come to South Haven in Wahoo to see mom quite frequently. I know mom enjoyed those visits and your mom spoke of you and the grandkids . Mom passed on June 4 , 2021 very peacefully at age of 97. I live in Lincoln and have 3 children 4 grandchildren and my husband.
