Philip H. Miller of Wahoo was born in Norman, Nebraska to Bernard and Mary Miller of Campbell on Aug. 21, 1934. He passed away in Lincoln on Jan. 30, 2015.
Phil graduated from Campbell High School in 1951. He received The Regents Scholarship from UNL and graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture Education. Later, he received a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin. He also served in the National Guard and Army during the mid-1950s. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in 1955.
Phil taught at Mead Public School for 42 years, teaching Ag Ed, biology and other classes as well as being an FFA Advisor. Many of Phil’s FFA students received FFA honors including election to state and national officers. Phil also received a number of FFA honors at the state and national level. Retiring from teaching in 1999, Phil became a tax preparer for H&R Block in Wahoo and later in Lincoln.
Phil married Shirley Jensen in 1976 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Phil was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his three children from a previous marriage and a stepson. He loved family gatherings, sports, woodworking, FFA events and traveling.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry, a sister-in-law and 5 brothers-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shirley, children Cindy (Greg) Hall of Fremont, Steve (Jeanne) Miller of Bennington, Teresa (Barry) Arnold of Omaha and Brad (Mary) Jensen of Newtown, PA.; sisters Bernadine Anderson of Surfside Beach, SC, Rita Koehler of Omaha, Alice Witt of MO, brother-in-law Keith Hartford of Cedar Bluffs, sisters-in-law Mary Miller of Gering, Kittie Stricklett of Blair, Elva Jean McNeely of Enid, OK, and brother and sister-in-laws Harold and Marilyn McNeely of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Edward Miller, Matthew Miller, Aimee Hall, Kristen Jensen, Maxx Arnold and many other relatives.
Miller Family I would like to extend or deepest sympathies in you loss. He was a great man and teacher. May he rest in the arm of the Lord and may the Lord give you comfort as well.
Shirley, was so sorry to hear of Phil passing. Our prayers are with you and your family. We won’t make services as we are in Az.

as with all the rest I send my deepest thoughts and prayers to the family. I am the youngest to Ed Portz family and admired Phil. I once worked with him and younger brother to help out on the farm of his dad Ben (my uncle ) he run such a nice farm. I was close friends with Phillips younger brother, Larry, when we were growing up and spend much time at the Miller farm. I will always remember Phillip as a very classy gentleman.
