Phyllis J. Osthoff, 82 of Wahoo, NE passed away peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, NE.  She was born December 22, 1940 in Fremont, NE to Robert and Elga (Romans) Sanderson.  She graduated from Fremont High School in 1958.  She lived in Fremont and the surrounding area until 1965.  She worked at Western Electric from 1959-1965.  After being stationed with her first husband in Missouri, Okinawa and Florida Airforce Bases, she returned to Nebraska in 1978 and worked at the Wahoo Onion Plant and the Haven House.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Joseph Osthoff on October 18, 1986 in Wahoo. They lived in rural Weston from 1986-2017.  They moved to Wahoo South Haven Cottages in October 2017. She retired December 22, 2002.

Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother, a country girl at heart.   She loved country-western music and tolerated her husband’s love of German music. During the years that Phyllis and Joe spent together they seldom fought.  Love and respect for each other were dominant.  Her favorite foods were fried chicken, mashed taters, cheese-macaroni, bologna-cheese sandwiches, watermelon, pumpkin pie and sometimes a nice steak!  For the past 21 years both Phyllis and Joe have abstained from alcohol.  Phyllis did so out of love for her husband who needed her support.  Well done My Love!

Phyllis is survived by husband, Joseph; daughter, Joyce Taylor; grandsons, Shaun (Ashley) O’Toole, Grayson (Tiffany) Whipp; great- granddaughters, Elizabeth and Gracie Rose O’Toole; nieces; Denise Gram, Lavonne Stewart, Paula Kay, Helen Thomas; nephews, Glenn Stewart, Tom Plessner, Stephen Osthoff and George Thomas; great nephew: Jacob Sorenson.

She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Elga; son, Robert “Bo”; sisters, Roberta and Doris; brother, Donald; brother-in-law, Paul Plessner.
