Robert R. Vanek, 74, of Weston, NE, passed into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Lincoln, NE.
Bob was born May 23, 1949, in Wahoo to Robert A. and Martha (Pospisil) Vanek. He graduated from Weston Public High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard from which he later retired. Bob married Fran Varriano on July 8, 1972, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Prague. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. He was employed at Mid-Continent Bottlers in Lincoln. Bob was a member of the Weston American Legion Post 308 and a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed DJing and catering events for family and friends.
Bob enjoyed hay rack rides and spending time with his family. Taking care of his grandkids and spoiling them was the highlight of his life. He also spoiled his granddogs and loved sneaking them extra treats! You could always find him chatting with friends and lending a helping hand.
Bob is survived by his wife Fran, children and grandchildren: Michele, Mark, Matthew and Madison Reising; Stefanie, Tim, Ben, Eli and Caleb Chvatal; Ryan, Linda, Tyler, Alyssa and Brady Vanek; Andy, Whitney, Parker, Reed and Cooper Vanek. Bob is also survived by sister Norma Tweedy, and brothers Tom Vanek, Gordy (Kendra) Vanek, Randy (Gina) Vanek, sisters-in-law Mary Vanek and Jolene Cerny. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Dwayne Vanek, brother-in-law Richard Tweedy, and sister-in-law Kelly Vanek.
