Shirley Ann Vanderpool, 72 of Weston, NE, entered into rest on Friday, February 28, 2014 at her home in Weston.  She was born September 2, 1941 in Rescue, Nebraska to William E and Erma M (Novak) Semrad.  She attended elementary school in Prague and graduated from Weston High School in 1959.

Shirley was united in marriage to Thomas J Vanderpool on October 24, 1959 in Wahoo, Nebraska.  Tom and Shirley lived in Wahoo for the first few years of their life and later moved to Weston where they resided for the rest of their time together.  Two children were born to this union.  Thomas W was born in 1960 and Theresa was born in 1963.

Shirley enjoyed many things in life, camping with friends and family and enjoying the outdoors on her deck.  But the most important thing to Shirley was her family.  Time and special moments spent with them were her most favorite.  She was a strong woman with a big heart who put people first.

Shirley worked at the Saunders County Nursing home, Haven House, Saunders County Hospital and Hinky Dinky.  Throughout these days, she also held the job most important to her which was being a wonderful Mom to her children.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; son, Tommy; Mother and Father-in-law, Jeff and Lavella Vanderpool; step mother-in-law, Martha Vanderpool; brother-in-law, Sam Vanderpool; sister-in-law, Linda Semrad; and nephew, Rick Vanderpool.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband Tom; daughter, Theresa Bartek of Weston; grandsons, Jeffrey (Michelle) Bartek of Bennett, Christian Bartek and fiancé Charlene Judd of Wilbur, Michael Bartek and special friend Michaela Policky of Weston, Bryant (Amanda) Bartek of Ceresco.  Great-grandchildren Blake, Nevaeh, Haidyn, and Ayana.  Brothers Bill Semrad of Weston, Elmer and Barb Semrad of Wahoo, Gary and Kathy Semrad of Weston, sister-in-law Ruth Vanderpool of Tulsa, and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Andrew Dietzel will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Jeffery A. Bartek, Christian J. Bartek, Michael T. Bartek, Bryant W. Bartek, William G. Semrad, Bradley J. Semrad.

So sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing, we know she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We hope you and your family find comfort in knowing that she touched the lives of so many and those memories will be cherished for ever. No one could have done more for a loved one than you did for Shirley. Being able to remain in her home and receiving the care, love and respect of people who knew her the best. Shirley was extremely lucky to have such a wonderful family which is a direct reflection of the person she was. You have to give love to receive love and she most truly did that. Take Care and we hope our paths can cross many times in the future. Rodney & Ellen Tuner & Family Lincoln NE.
