Shirley “Sue” Nelson 74, of Ceresco, NE passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. She was born August 4, 1942 in Williams, OK to George and Leona (Hanna) Whitledge. Sue graduated from Fort Smith High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas and also received a degree from Beauty School. On June 14, 1963, Sue was united in marriage to Larry Nelson in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Sue was a proud blood donor who gave over 10 gallons of blood and also helped with the Blood Mobile. She was a member of the Valparaiso American Legion Post 371 Ladies Auxiliary where she held various offices, Valparaiso Election Board, District 118 School Board and Farmettes Extension Club. She enjoyed senior bowling, gardening, baking, attending her grandchildren’s events, animals and was an avid Husker fan.
Sue is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry Nelson, children, Sandra (Keith) Kelsey of Lincoln, NE, Steven (Stephanie) Nelson of Ceresco, NE; grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Nelson, Courtney Kelsey; one sister; two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.

i still remember coming out to your farm and Sue killing chickens for me to take home because i did not have the heart to do it myself my thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
