In care of the family for future designations.

Susan A. Pytlik, 71 of Ceresco, NE passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born February 27, 1951 in Lincoln, NE to Edward and Cordelia (Busch) Walter.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969.  Sue was united in marriage to Donald R. Pytlik on July 12, 1969 in Lincoln.

Sue was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Davey, NE.  She enjoyed teaching ceramics, fishing, camping, and sewing.

The young couple started their family in Brainard, Ne. With an opportunity to expand a small business, Sue and Don moved to Ceresco, Nebraska and would raise four children there. Sue had many roles she played in her life. She was a mother to four, wife to one, family psychologist to five, a teacher of ceramics, a friend, an aunt, a daughter, a fisherman, a chef, and a valued staff member at three successful companies in her adult life. Family, and getting them together for celebrations, were very important to her. Equally important were the moments that were unplanned and spur of the moment. The thing most people will remember her for is how she brought family and friends together, and that was through food. Appetizers, desserts, main courses… anything. Food brings people together and Sue enjoyed serving and sharing her cooking skills in the kitchen.

Sue was a modest person who loved to share her time and space to make others happy. Her family brought her joy, watching it grow through the years. It didn’t take long for the nickname “Grandma Sugar” to stick when you knew that you were always in for a treat at “Sug’s”. Ice cream, cookies, desserts…..all within arms reach for her grandchildren. HER children, for the record, NEVER had access to such delicious treasures.

A day at Sugar’s was always a fun one, especially in the summers when as many that could would show up and enjoy a day, 1-800-POOLSIDE. The grill on, a perfect veggie tray laid out (visual directions included if someone else was putting it together), kids laughing in the pool, etc…. Those are the day’s Grandma Sugar loved the most.

Sue is survived by her husband, Donald Pytlik; children, Kim (Jeff) McReynolds of Lincoln, Keith (Lori Tackett) Pytlik of Lincoln, Kurt (Tami) Pytlik of Ceresco and Kent (Kae) Pytlik of Omaha; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Alice (Bill) Doeschot, Jean (Ray) Bryan, Ann (Don) Biggs and Adriana (Dan) Biggs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cordelia Walter; brothers, Henry Walter and Joseph Walter; grandson, Wyatt Pytlik.

Condolences for Susan A. Pytlik

Just when I needed a friend the most, God sent me you. We shared so much together! We laughed, cried, complained to each other and finish each other’s sentences! We never lost contact after I moved. We always picked up where we left off. I was so blessed to have you as a part of my life. You were everything a true friend should be and more. I will miss you beyond words and there will always be a very special place in my heart for you. Fly with the angels Sue. Love you .

Sue, where do I begin? I was blessed to have you as a dear friend. You were always up for a visit, a glass of wine, and swim in the pool, or cup of coffee. Of course you always thought we had to eat!! You are a ‘gem’ and I will truly miss your humor and your laugh. Rest is peace honey.

Sue I will always treasure our friendship, all those crazy nights at Ernie’s! The one memory I have is of both of us staying late to close the store and lock up. It was a night of freezing rain, and the sidewalk was like glass. The sidewalk out of the front of the store slopes to the street and we both were worried that we would fall and get hurt. We finally decided we would crawl out to the curb till we could stand and get in our cars. It was so slick and we were laughing sliding towards the street!! All my best to your family. They are in my prayers.
