Sylvia Marie Machovec, 93 of Wahoo, entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2013 at the Saunders Care Center in Wahoo, Nebraska.  Sylvia was born on September 24, 1919 in Malmo, Nebraska to Frank and Josephine (Simanek) Holub.  She had a wonderful childhood experience growing up on a farm near Malmo along with her sisters, Helen, Arlene, and Olga.  Sylvia married Wencelaus Machovec on December 27, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon with a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Arlene, who married John Sudik.  Wenceslaus and Sylvia lived on a farm 3 ½ miles northwest of Wahoo and raised three children.

Sylvia enjoyed her life on the farm and the district 70 community.  She always had wonderful home cooked meals and everyone always enjoyed her baking of kolaches and horn rolls.  She always had a saying, “If you can’t clean it, paint it.  If you can’t paint it, burn it,” and she did.  Sylvia loved going to dances and she loved polka music.  Caring for her yard always kept her busy and she never left a leaf on the ground.  She loved to shop, but most of all she loved her family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by husband, Wenceslaus Machovec; beloved son, Pat Machovec; parents, Frank and Josephine Holub; sisters, Helen Veck and Arlene Sudik; son-in-law, James Werblow.

She is survived by daughters, LuAnn Werblow of Michigan and Carol (Mike) Forbes of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Debbie Machovec; grandchildren, Wendy Werblow, Stephanie (Ken) Couch, Tonya Forbes, Josh (Erin) Barry, Deanna (Cody) Haynes, Bryan Machovec, Chad Machovec; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Olga (Ken) Wallin.
