Virginia M. Prochaska, 80 of Malmo, NE passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, June 30th, 2023, at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE with her husband Melvin Prochaska by her side. Virginia was born on December 7, 1942 in Lincoln Nebraska. She went to Lincoln Public School until high school. She then moved in with her grandparents, Charlie and Emma Dolezal, and went to Dwight Assumption School. Virginia met Donald R Masters and married in 1964. They had two daughters, Michelle and Melissa. She was a stay-at-home mom and later divorced Don. She worked at the doughnut stop and American stores for several years.

Virginia met Melvin Prochaska in 1987 and were united in marriage on August 21, 1992 in Wahoo, NE. They lived in Weston, NE from 1992-1998, then moved to rural Malmo, NE on the family farm in 1999 where they have resided since.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the farm life. She was a homemaker, loved gardening, as canning was one of her favorite past times which she shared with all. If it grew in the garden, she put it in jars for friends and family. On occasion her friends would talk her into helping them make jaternice and jelita while having a wonderful time at it. Virginia loved to mow, if anyone else tried to get on her mower, you had better watch out as she would give you an earful. She loved animals, raising chickens, guineas, ducks, cows, and her cherished dogs, Goofy and Lucky, and cat, Sassy.

Virginia is survived by husband, Melvin; daughters, Michelle (DJ) Delay, and Melissa (Peter) Salazar; stepdaughters, Cathy Fiala, and Caroline (Jeff) Pees; stepsons, Steven (Jeanette) Prochaska and Stanley Prochaska. She had twenty-six grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley (Anne) Dolezal; grandparents, Charlie (Emma) Dolezal; brothers, Ron Sr. (Joyce) Dolezal, and Harvey Roberts.
