Wendy Jo Determan, 80, of Mead, NE, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Saunders Medical Center LTC in Wahoo, NE. She was born November 12, 1943 in Madison, SD to Donald and Dorothy (Waters) Welch. Wendy graduated from General Beadle High School in Madison, SD and she attended General Beadle Teacher College for two years. On May 1, 1965, Wendy was united in marriage to Joseph Determan at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Madison, SD.
Wendy spent many years working as a medical transcriptionist. Wendy and Joe moved around to many locations with Joe’s career, but Wendy always helped keep the family organized.
Wendy loved riding horses, her Doberman’s and feeding the birds. She enjoyed golfing at Hilltop Country Club and spending time at their home on Lake of the Ozarks.
Wendy was the definition of “lighting up a room”. The kindness and compassion she showed to every person and every creature lucky enough to meet her was truly a gift. Her presence was a force to be reckoned with in the very best ways. It’s safe to say Wendy made everyone better, every place brighter and every life fuller.
She is survived by husband of 58 years, Joseph Determan; children, Ross (Amber) Determan, Amy Schinco and Ryan Determan; grandchildren, Reid (Kyle) Determan, Quinn Determan, Gray Determan, Bella Schinco, A.J. Schinco, Maeve Determan and Cash Determan; great-grandchildren, Sloan Determan and Douglas Determan; many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Donald and Dorothy Welch; brothers, Greg Welch and Kelly Welch.
