Wilfred J. Janecek, 94, of Wahoo, NE, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.  He was born February 23, 1929 in Prague, NE to Joseph and Anna (Sudik) Janecek.  Wilfred graduated from Prague High School and passionately enjoyed being a lifelong farmer.  He was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged on July 2, 1953.  On November 17, 1953, Wilfred was united in marriage to Twila Ann Vybiral at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon, NE.

Wilfred was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, NE and a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon, NE.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Colon Fire Department, American Legion Post #265 and a past member of the District 65 School Board.  He also served on the building committee for the St. Joseph’s parish hall.

He is survived by daughters, Diane (Jan) Dzuirlik of Montgomery, AL, Carol Janecek of Kansas City, MO and Nancy (Larry) Chapek of Colon, NE; grandchildren, Brandon (Kylee) Chapek of Lincoln, NE and Kelsey (Mitch) Pankoke of Beaver Crossing, NE; great-grandchildren, Kolbie and Brooks Chapek, Callum and Millie Pankoke; step great-grandson, Evan Pankoke; brother, Justin (Mary) Janecek; sister, Jovita Baker; many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Twila Janecek; parents, Joseph and Anna Janecek; parents-in-law Joseph and Anne Vybiral; sister, Georgiann (Gevain) Thomison; brother-in-law, Leon Baker; sister-in-law, Dolores (Stanley) Sousek.

    Heaven has gained another great man that shall be missed by all who knew him. You and Twila celebrate your 70th anniversary together. My Sincere Sympathy and Prayers for you all. RIP Wilfred. 🇺🇲
